The Rafting takes place on the Dunajec river and goes through the famous Dunajec Gorge in the Pieniny Mountains. Wooden rafts organized by the Pieniny Highlanders has been a tradition since the early 19th century and is a great way to experience the scenic beauty of the area. The day trip also gives you a chance to visit Niedzica Castle, build in the early 14th century on the edge of Lake Czorsztyn. There is also a quick stop at St. Michael Archangel's Church in Dębno, part of the UNESCO Wooden Church path through Southern Poland.
Dunajec Rafting Tour includes
- Pick up from your apartment betweeen 8-9am.
- Transport to Dunajec
- Tickets to a wooden raft and 2,5hr trip on the river.
- Transport to Niedzica castle.
- Transport to Dębno
- Transport back to your apartment
This is a day trip with pick up and return to your apartment. The trip usually consist of about 8 poeple in the tour group. The driver will pick you up in mini van or bus and drive for about 1 hour through the country side to the Pieniny mountain area to where the rafting starts. The driver will sort out everybodies tickets for the wooden rafts and you will start your trip along the Dunajec River through the Dunajec Gorge. The trip on the wooden raft lasts about 2,5 hrs and the driver will pick you up again at the end of the trip. You will then be driven to Niedzica Castle area where you will have 2hrs to explore the area, you can either enter the Castle or have lunch or simly walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will then be taken to Dębno, where you will spend about 20min at the wooden church. From there you will be driven back to Zakopane and your apartment. The whole trip lasts about 7-8 hrs.
Not included in the tour price
- Tickets to Niedzica Castle, 25 zł - adults; 19 zł - children.
- Lunch, bring some snacks for your jounrey or visit a resturant at the Castle.
Other useful info
- This tour is available between 1 April- 31 September.
- Take a warm jacket is it gets cold on the raft.
- There are english audio headsets available on some of the tour days
- The tour last 7-8 hrs.
- If you are less than 8 people you will share the transport van and wooden raft with other tourists.
- Most of the guides on the raft only speaks Polish so perhaps read up about the area and history before going.

The view is amazing and the facilities are great to unwind at the end of an action packed active day, which Retha is also happy to organise for us. We would recommend a hike in the area, fat biking and a snowboard lesson organised through Retha. Next time we are in Zakopane we would definitely stay here again! -
